The Track
The Track sits within the active gymnasium level of the boiler house. It's an inclusive area that caters to and allows all users to participate in using it. The journey of the track starts at the forecourt of the site, allowing visitors that are visiting the gymnasium specifically to have a seamless mode of entering the building.
To understand the track, the activity of the gymnasium must be explained: The gymnasium is an active and vibrant gym that houses all the creative and exciting ways of movement such as rock climbing, aerial silks, trapeze, sound + movement rooms, light + movement rooms etc.
The track is a place of activity and fluid movement that incorporates spaces for group movement as well as observation. For users that have limited physical ability, the track is a place that allows them to be a part of the bustling environment and circulate as well. Incorporating unique activities can be exciting, however it is also costly, thats why the track is an easily navigated, free and an all inclusive way of encouraging an active lifestyle.
As mentioned above, the gymnasium is a vibrant, high energy
space that allows more creative ways of being physically active to be explored. However, it's costly nature demands a more financially sustainable iteration to be designed. Hence, The Track was proposed.
The Track is another mode of circulation within the space that offers areas of prospect onto the floors below and above. Observation is a key part of learning, thus beneficial to ones mental health. From the track, there is an undisturbed path that stretches from the forecourt to the indoor track. There are also breakout spaces that allow for larger communal gatherings. Its non-linear nature allows the function to be user defined - run, jump, slide, roll however you want!

Track LED Sensor Detail
The pressure from stepping or rolling over the sensors cause the bottom of the track to light up. These sensors are placed all throughout the track so every participant can experience lighting up the track. The experience extends to the visitors under the track who see the words light up under the track, intriguing them to create pools of light themselves.
Outdoor Track View Points
An example of what the users of the outdoor track can see when peering into the view points. Each view point is different, encouraging them to travel further up to see what another view point can frame.
