The Cook
The Coal handling shed houses an all round nutrition and food learning space that aims to educate people on making healthier choices. The space houses three programs; a theatre space for theory based learning, a cooking school that allows students to actively learn and put the knowledge gained from the lecture in action, and a cafe space that bring people into the space and allows them to observe those who are learning.
A Space dedicated to learning about nutrition and food health and safety is imperative to a space that prioritises generating healthy lives. Simply learning about portion sizes, macros, and balance between healthy and unhealthy foods can help people make healthier choices.
The architecture of this space is designed to have maximum visual permeability to encourage others to be inspired to be educated too. Using glass, soft transparent fabrics and soft materials like cork create an approachable and warm space that can make the learning more enjoyable.
